Winners of the Civil Society Fund 2008

The World Bank Office in Tirana announced the winners of the Civil Society Fund for 2008. The focus of the program this year was youth civic engagement and environment protection.

The following NGOs and their respective projects met the criteria for receiving grants under the CSF’08

• ECAT Tirana – Awareness-raising campaign on the fire situation in forests and pastures  (Vlore, Sarande, Delvine)
• Center for a Roma Contemporary Vision: The Roma youth and challenges in terms of social inclusion: Series of Open-ended forum, Tirana and Fier .
• Women’s Forum Elbasan: Informing public on domestic legislation over environment and over the Aarhust Convention as well as increasing public participation in local decision-making,Perrenjas;
• The society for Protection, Information, Care and Education: The youth have the right to be informed,Tirane;
• Women for tourism development: To keep our beaches clean, Vlora;
• Cross-border Nature Society: Establishing partnership among local actors and drafting an environmental plan for Voskopoja Commune;
• Albanian Institute of Media: The space of environmental issues in the media;
• Independent Forum of Women, Burrel Branch, Increasing the role of youth in establishing cultural environment in the public spaces;
